October Missions Update

Month in Review

It is now spring here in Argentina! Mother’s Day is celebrated in October here. We drove by two cemeteries on the way to pick up someone for church, and they were both full of people bringing flowers to their mothers who have passed away. Also, we passed a group of women carrying an idol down the street. This is a religious ritual to give honor to the idol in an effort to get them and their earthly mothers a better chance of getting to heaven. This month Iglesia Bautista Victoria had their missions conference. The conference had great attendance and it was exciting to see the church excited about missions. Three people made professions of faith during the conference. The church currently supports three missionaries.

Surveying Mendoza

This month we got to survey the city of Mendoza in the province of Mendoza. This city has a population of about 1.2 million and is known for its agriculture with the city surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Supposedly there are two Bible-believing, Bible-preaching Baptist churches, but we were unable to confirm either one still existed. We surveyed multiple neighborhoods and surrounding cities without a Bible-preaching church.

Iglesia Bautista Victoria

We have greatly enjoyed getting to attend and serve at Iglesia Bautista Victoria during this time of language learning. The Lord has blessed the Bateman family and the church and they have outgrown their current space. Please pray for them as they are raising money to build a new building.

Praises

  • Language progress
  • Surveying more cities

Prayer Requests:

  • Language learning
  • Churches in Rosario and Pergamino
  • Wisdom for future plans for our family

For His Glory,

Robert, Emma, Lucille, and Kelsey Becker
